25,000+ expected to Shamrock The Block in Richmond this weekend

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Shamrock The Block, the first big outdoor festival of the season, this Saturday from 12- 6pm in and around the 17th Street Farmer's Market in Shockoe Bottom.

Enjoy the green beverages, music from Sleeper Agent and other local bands. There will also be games, prizes, food and beverages and an extended children's area with a large tent.

Several streets will be closed starting at 5am Saturday: 17th from Main to Grace, Franklin from 17th to 19th and all of the Farmer's Market, Parking is always a challenge but there are pay lots surrounding the Farmer's Market, and street parking surrounding Main.

Several things to remember if you go, bring a designated driver, wear green and comfortable shoes and clothing, if bringing a pet, keep on a leash and have clean-up supplies, an ATM machine will be on site and some merchants will accept credit cards. And remember, there will be a lot of people so please be patient.
