RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond Police Chief Bryan Norwood will walk through Davee Gardens in South Richmond later today.
Chief Norwood had led similar walks through Richmond neighborhood for the last four years, according to a press release from the Richmond Police Department.
“Building trust between city residents and police officers is a key component of community policing,” said Chief Norwood in the release. “It starts with the patrol officers and extends all the way to me and my command staff, both sworn and civilian.”
Crime in the Davee Gardens neighborhood so far this year has dropped compared to this same time last year, according to Richmond Police. The department credited a newly formed community association with helping police fight crime.
Chief Norwood’s walk through is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. Neighbors are invited to walk along with the chief and his command staff.
