WASHINGTON (CNN) – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor endorsed Mitt Romney as the Republican presidential nominee on Sunday.
“I cast my vote already, and I am endorsing Mitt Romney in his candidacy for president of the United States,” Cantor, R-Virginia, said on the NBC program “Meet the Press.”
The conservative Cantor, a tea party favorites, is the first top House Republican leader to make an endorsement in the GOP race to pick a nominee to take on President Barack Obama in November.
“I do believe Mitt Romney will win our nomination,” Cantor said.
I am endorsing @MittRomney for President of the United States, because he is the only candidate with a bold pro-growth, pro-jobs plan.—
