WINTER WEATHER UPDATE: Messy conditions to impact Thanksgiving travel

Snow begins falling in Central Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Snow has started falling across some of the CBS 6 viewing area Sunday afternoon.

CBS 6 Storm Team Meteorologist Mike Stone says a winter weather advisory is in effect for most of the area through tonight.  [MORE: Complete forecast discussion.]

Stone says light rain and snow will continue tracking northward and that precipitation intensity will increase this evening as the storm passes to our south.  [MAP: Storm Team 6 snowfall totals]

As a result, a period of light to moderate snow will occur this evening into the first part of the morning.
