Ex-Goochland treasurer gets 4 years in prison
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Former Goochland County Treasurer Brenda Grubbs has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
However, a judge suspended all but four years of the sentence late Tuesday afternoon.
Grubbs was immediately taken into custody after being sentenced.
In August, Grubbs pleaded guilty to all charges laid against her in her embezzlement case. She admitted that she had withdrawn funds from the Goochland County Treasury and wired it to an account in Dubai.
Grubbs said sent the funds to a man there and that she had used up to a $100,000 dollars of her own money before she started taking funds from the county.
