HENRICO COUNTY, VA (WTVR) – CBS 6 and Emroch and Kilduff are kicking off another effort to stop texting and driving.

The W82TEXT High School Challenge aims to curb texting and driving among teens — and lets area schools compete for a big prize.

In fact, the school with the most student pledges will get to write a 30-second W82TEXT commercial to be produced and aired on CBS 6.

Additionally, the winning team will appear on Virginia This Morning, Central Virginia’s only local talk show.

The campaign officially kicked off at Henrico High School on Friday, Sept. 9.

CBS6’s Raymond Hawkes, representatives from Emroch and Kilduff and other officials addressed juniors and seniors about the growing danger of the deadly trend.

After the assembly, students were able to take the pledge and get a handy thumb band to remind them to W82TEXT.
