RICHMOND, Va. -- We are now gaining two to three minutes of daylight each day, and days have more than 11 hours of daylight.
Even though the daylight will continue to increase the next few months, our sunrises and sunsets will get later soon. We "spring ahead" one hour to Eastern Daylight Time at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 8th.
By the vernal equinox, the start of astronomical spring, we will have over 12 hours of daylight.
Daylight will continue increasing until the summer solstice. Our maximum of daylight in mid-June will be around 14 hours and 45 minutes. This is over five hours more daylight than on the first day of winter.
