RICHMOND, Va. -- It will be clear and quite cold overnight. A Freeze Warningis in effect for western and much of central Virginia from midnight until 8 A.M., with a frost advisory elsewhere away from the coast. Lows will be in the low to mid 30s by daybreak Sunday, but some colder outlying areas may dip into the mid and upper 20s.
Mother's Day will be mostly sunny and milder during the afternoon, with highs in the mid to upper 60s.
We could see an isolated shower late Sunday night and/or Monday, but much of the region will stay dry. A cold front passing through will keep our temperatures on the cool side, with highs Monday and Tuesday in the low to mid 60. Lows Tuesday morning will be in the upper 30s/low 40s in the metro area, but some low 30s are possible north and west.
We’ll see a significant warming trend for the second half of the week. Highs will be near 70 Wednesday, 75-80 Thursday, and well into the 80s on Friday. It looks like 80-degree weather will last into next weekend.
