RICHMOND, Va. --Good morning, we are waking up to cold, very frosty conditions this morning. Take a few extra minutes to defrost. Today will be mostly sunny with high temps in the 40s. An upper-level trough will move eastward into the Southeast U.S. by this afternoon. The trough will result in a coastal low to develop producing rain and snow across mainly southern and southeastern Virginia tomorrow. Upper-level energy lagging back to the west of the surface low will produce snowfall farther north, potentially into central Virginia, with the possibility of accumulating snow Friday night into Saturday morning. The low will accelerate northward out of the Mid-Atlantic Saturday afternoon.
Sunday and Monday will be dry and seasonally cool days. Another storm system will move into the area on Tuesday, bringing the potential for more wintry weather to central Virginia. The pattern remains active with the potential for yet another storm system to affect the area late next week.
