A few showers today

The best chance of rain will be Friday

RICHMOND, Va. -- An upper-level trough will bring a chance for showers to the area today and tomorrow. The best chance of rain today should be across southern and southeastern Virginia, with the best chance for rain in all areas coming on Friday.

We'll still have a chance of rain on Saturday, but Sunday's weather appears much drier at this time. A hotter and drier pattern is expected to develop into the first half of next week.

Two disturbances in the tropics continue to show slow development, and we could have "Laura" and "Marco" in the next few days. The potential impact to the U.S. mainland would not come until the middle of next week, and it is far too early to speculate where, if any, landfalls might occur.
