RICHMOND, Va. -- Today is likely to be the hottest day of the week, with highs in the middle 90s and a heat index reaching triple digits at times.
Tomorrow will likely be even more humid, with highs still in the lower and middle 90s. An approaching front from the west will trigger afternoon and evening storms, with rain becoming widespread at night. There is a MARGINAL Risk for severe weather on Thursday at this point.
Friday will be a muggy and wet day, with showers and thunderstorms. Torrential downpours and some localized flooding are possible. Highs will be in the upper 70s.
Rain chances will gradually decrease over the upcoming weekend, although some scattered showers and storms are still possible on Saturday. Highs will be in the low and middle 80s Saturday and Sunday, rising to around 90 on Monday.
In the tropics, we are watching two tropical waves in the central Atlantic. Both have the potential for some development over the next few days.
