RICHMOND, Va. -- We wrapped up a full week of beautiful fall weather today, and now we'll have a weekend with good rain chances thanks to the remnant moisture from Hurricane Delta. High cloud cover will thicken tonight into Saturday, with rain arriving by mid-morning over the southern half of Virginia. Rain will become likely in the afternoon, especially across southern Virginia. Rain will continue to be likely Sunday into Monday, with drier conditions developing on Tuesday. Seasonally warm and dry conditions are expected for the rest of the week.
Hurricane Delta will make landfall this evening along the Louisiana coast and then will weaken as it moves northeast into the Tennessee Valley on Saturday. There is another weak disturbance in the far eastern Atlantic but it has only a low chance of development over the next 5 days.
