RICHMOND, Va. -- Strong high pressure centered over the Great Lakes will continue to usher a drier and much milder air mass into the Mid-Atlantic through Saturday.

Friday will be sunny and pleasantly warm, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s, and very low humidity. The beautiful weather will continue into Saturday, with highs only a couple of degrees warmer than Friday.

A broad upper-level low and associated weak cold front will influence the area Sunday, with a chance for a few afternoon and evening showers and storms.

Mostly dry weather is expected Monday and Tuesday, with another strong trough developing Wednesday. The cold front associated with this feature will move through the area, bringing showers and storms to Virginia Wednesday, followed by a push of milder air Thursday.

Larry is now a hurricane over the open waters of the central Atlantic and is expected to strengthen to a major hurricane this weekend. Larry is still expected to turn north and weaken well east of the United States.
