RICHMOND, Va. -- Skies will be mostly sunny and mild today, with highs in the low to mid-70s. We’ll have a few more clouds on Wednesday, with continued mild conditions. There could be a little haze in the atmosphere through Wednesday due to smoke from fires out west.
Moisture from Hurricane Sally could arrive in Virginia as early as Thursday, with scattered showers possible. Rain will be more likely on Friday morning as the bulk of the remnant moisture from Sally moves into the region. A strong cold front will bring dry and cool weather to the area this weekend into early next week.
The tropics are very active right now, with 4 named storms in addition to Sally. Paulette is a hurricane and continues to move northward away from Bermuda. Rene is a depression, and will slowly drift southwest over the open Atlantic. Teddy should become a hurricane, and possibly a major hurricane, as it moves northwestward into the central Atlantic. Vicky formed this Monday morning, and is expected to drift westward with little chance of strengthening.
