CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Megan Walker will get a chance to play professionally in the Big Apple.
The New York Liberty selected the Monacan High School graduate with the 9th overall pick in Friday's WNBA Draft.

Walker becomes the 6th straight player from the University of Connecticut to be taken in the first round of the WNBA Draft.

Walker averaged 19.7 points and 8.4 rebounds as a junior and was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, the AAC Tournament MVP and was a consensus All-American for the Lady Huskies. She was one of five players in the country to average at least 19 points and eight rebounds a game
Walker ended her UConn career with 1,251 points and 615 rebounds.
