RICHMOND, Va. -- The Atlantic 10 Conference has made a big change to its upcoming basketball tournaments scheduled to be played at the University of Richmond’s Robins Center and VCU’s Siegel Center.
The men's tournament is being moved up a week to March 3 - 6. The title game will remain Sunday, March 14, but will be played at the University of Dayton.
The entire women’s championship will be pushed back a week to March 10-14.
"Reordering the championship dates allowed the A-10 to reschedule a series of key matchups during the final two weeks of the regular season," a league spokesperson wrote in an email about the change. "Tipping the men’s championship on March 3 provides additional play dates and flexibility for the league to adjust to any unforeseen COVID-19 interruption. Beginning the women’s championship on March 10 is in response to the later start of the women’s basketball postseason schedule."
While Richmond and VCU will still co-host most of the men’s tournament, the first round and semifinals will now be played exclusively at the Siegel Center. Both the Siegel Center and Robins Center will host second-round and quarterfinal games.
The men’s championship final will be broadcast on CBS Sports, Sunday, March 14 at 1 p.m.
