NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. -- The Economic Development Authority in New Kent County has launched a COVID-19 Grant Program to help businesses that are still in need during the pandemic.
The Board of Supervisors approved $100,000 of funding for businesses that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. Officials say with the grants will allow businesses that have received zero funding, the ability to pay wages, utilities, operating costs and inventory.
A minimum amount of $2,500 per grant will be rewarded to 40 applicants.
Requirements:
⦁ Business operating for at least a year
⦁ Explain how COVID has impacted your business
⦁ Must have fewer than 25 full time employees
⦁ Make sure business licenses and fees are up to date and paid for
⦁ No record of zoning violations
⦁ Have not received PPP loans or other funds
"We're here to help. No one business can do it on their own. I can't do my job on my own. It takes a community to get through this," said Matthew J. Smolnik, Director of Economic Development. "Know that New Kent County is doing everything that we can to help you out. We value our businesses ."
Applications must be delivered to the New Kent County Visitors and Commerce Center.
Application deadline is July 15th at 4:30 p.m.
