HOPEWELL, Va. -- The City of Hopewell was awarded nearly $800,000 as part of the CARES Act to help customers who are behind in their wastewater bill.
"There are a lot of folks that when the COVID hit, were financially impacted in a pretty severe manner. So if you've been unable to pay your wastewater bill since March of this year, we will help you pay that," Jerry Byerly, the Director of Water Renewal, said. "Any customer, residential or commercial, if you are delinquent in your bill, because of the coronavirus you're eligible."
The catch is you have to apply and you only have until close a business on December 30 to do so.
Hopewell, customers can call a hotline - 804-352 4001 -- or go to the city's website to find the application to help pay their wastewater bill.
