RICHMOND, Va. -- Numerous CBS 6 viewers have reached out to the Problem Solvers expressing frustration over their inability to schedule a DMV appointment.
On Thursday, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam addressed the issue.
"Our DMV offices have reopened, they're requiring appointments. That means people who must go into a DMV to renew a license or get another service may have trouble getting an appointment before their license or registration expires," he explained. "We previously gave a 90-day extension to renew licenses, registration, or other credentials that expire before July 31. Today, we're giving an additional 90 days to do that."
In addition to the additional 90-day extension, the governor said he expected more appointment slots to open up as more DVM offices reopen.
