RICHMOND, Va. – The Byrd Theatre in Carytown remains closed to the general public, but they’re working hard to innovate and think of new ways to bring in donations and revenue – and stay connected to their many fans!
They’re doing that in a few special ways right now:
1) The Byrd Theatre is hosting movie parties. It’s a safe way for the community to enjoy and engage with the theatre. The Byrd Theatre says it’s good for friends, families and homeschool groups who are looking for a space to do something together, while maintaining social distance.
2) They’re also offering marquee messages! This allows people to put their own special messages on display on the well-known marquee. People have celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, engagements, graduations and more.
3) The Movie Lovers’ Club is another opportunity to engage. It’s a donation program where donors who sign up to donate $10 a month will receive a tumbler for free drinks at the theatre when the theatre reopens and for $20 or more a month donors receive 2 tumblers & 2 popcorns!
Watch the video above to hear from executive director Stacy Shaw. She explains how the theatre is using this time to make improvements before they're ready to fully reopen to the community.
