RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond restaurant is now being exposed to a massive audience on social media all thanks to a viral TikTok.

Jamia Brooksposted a video to the app, describing her experience at Barrio Taqueria + Tequila in the Fan District.

Brooks says she visits Barrio to order tequila sorbet and also enjoys eating the restaurant's tacos and Mexican street corn.

As of Wednesday, her video had more than 35,000 likes and nearly 200,000 views.

The video also caught the attention of Michelle Williams with Richmond Restaurant Group, which owns Barrio.

She said she was blown away by the online support and encouraged everyone to come try out their soft serve margaritas just like Brooks did.

"I mean it's the number one selling thing at the restaurant. Our food is amazing of course but [the soft serve margaritas are] such a photographical, Instagram-able moment that happens to be delicious," said Williams.

Barrio wants to thank Brooks for posting the video, especially as the business takes a hit during the pandemic.

"We have three bars, and we've completely lost the use of all three bars," Williams explained. "We're not even at 50% capacity on a good day."

She said it's also been a struggle accommodating for social distancing.

"Figuring out how to separate the tables by six feet, but still giving people a great experience and not making them feel like they're in a plastic bubble -- that was important to us," Williams said.

Williams said her team has been aggressive in testing staff and keeping them safe, and believes small businesses do a great job at fighting COVID-19.

"We know our cleaning protocols are above and beyond. I feel safer going into locally-owned businesses of all sorts because I know the managers and everybody below them care deeply, because it's important to them," she said.

Barrio is open for dinner every day of the week and also serves brunch on the weekends.
