RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond restaurants are changing the way they operate in order to stay in business. CBS 6 created We're Open to shine a light on these small businesses in an effort to support business owners and their employees.

In an interview with Eat It, Virginia! co-host Robey Martin, SB's Lakeside Love Shack owner Sarabeth Hagen explained about how the Lakeside community is helping the Love Shack stay open. A lightly-edited version of their conversation is transcribed below:

Sarabeth Hagen
I'm Sarabeth Hagen with SB's Lakeside Love Shack and this is Joseph Ewens, the general manager of the Love Shack.

Robey Martin
And you guys are open for takeout and delivery or take out?

Sarabeth Hagen
Absolutely takeout and delivery. We've been delivering all throughout Lakeside and a little bit further getting to know our neighborhood.

Joseph Ewens
We went to Carytown yesterday.

Sarabeth Hagen
So if you order enough, and if you're nice enough, we'll definitely deliver to you.

Joseph Ewens
We're not mean and we don't charge a delivery. It's free. You just gotta just give us time to make the food and bring it. Our staffs driving. So tip the drivers of course, make sure that they get some money so they can pay their rent and bills.

And we are open Tuesday through Sunday during the week at 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on the weekends its 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Just kind of like our regular hours.

We do our funky little shack bags in the morning and then our really fun specials that we've come up with for like take-home family meal dinners and our awesome Shackurterie Board that we're doing this weekend.

Joseph Ewens
It is so crazy awesome. And it comes with a platter. We have a bunch of platters. So we're gonna give a platter to every body. You got to return it at some point, you know when you can, but we have enough platter from like, catering stuff that we're like, you know what, let's platter it up on different funky little things. You know, I don't know. It might be a Christmas as well.

Sarabeth Hagen
So in this Shackurterie Board, it feeds four to six people. It's got 10 pancakes, a variety of savory, sweet and unicorn pancakes on there. It's got a big pile of pork, bacon, tomato wedges, hard boiled eggs, hard boiled Easter eggs and our fresh fruit.

So it's all piled on there and then it also comes with our signature salted caramel maple syrup, regular syrup, all our house made butters which is a strawberry, roasted garlic and honey cinnamon.

It comes with our house barbecue sauce, sour cream and our glitter whipped cream so you can pig out and just enjoy it family style on Easter Sunday. It's something easy to do. It's done for you. You don't have to cook you can just spend time with each other and enjoy each other.

Robey Martin
Can I get some sparkling or something to go with it?

Sarabeth Hagen
So we have our bubble packages as well and it is a bottle of champagne, a little OJ or cranberry juice. You also get two of our Love Shack cups that are little red Solo cups with our logo on them and a roll of toilet paper if you order the bubble package.

So that's a super perk right there. And those are $25 to add to any order.

Robey Martin
How are you guys holding up?

Sarabeth Hagen
It's definitely slower, but Lakeside is a whole other entity. It's a whole other type of community that is super supportive, and they're doing everything they can to help us out.

So we have had to come up with new and creative ideas to sell.

So like I said, we've got this Shackurterie board, we're doing like family dinners and we try to do keep up with our specials each week to make it interesting.

Now that Virginia is letting us sell alcohol that helps, but we're definitely hurting.

Half my staff is laid off right now and we're just holding on like day by day.

But like I said, everybody's super supportive. We're in good spirits. There's no reason to stress out because everybody's in this together. And so we're all going to be all right, you know, and when when it's time to reopen, everyone will be so excited and it'll just be this one big celebration. Personally I cannot wait to hug people again. It's like killing me. Yeah.

Robey Martin
I'm with you, I would really, would like to just right. Just grab, just grab a hold. I know.

I really appreciate you taking the time to chat with me today. I know that you guys are doing the good stuff over there. And I'm like so stoked about pancake platter. I just think that's a perfect Easter fun. Like, get excited about unicorn pancakes and glitter whipped cream. I mean, come on.
