RICHMOND, Va. – The Salvation Army of Central Virginia is celebrating "Christmas in July" and kicking off the countdown to Christmas by spreading summer cheer to children and adults in the community. They'll be handing out 1,000 cold, refreshing popsicles today from their mobile canteen as a reminder of their compassion and care for the community through all seasons.
Captain Jason Burns, Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Central Virginia, is encouraging the community to participate in “Popsicles with Purpose.” On Saturday, July 25, you can spread a little summer cheer in your own neighborhood by hosting a popsicle stand or online fundraiser to support The Salvation Army and the five-month countdown to Christmas! You can text JULY25 to 41444 to donate or click here.
Last year, The Salvation Army of Central Virginia helped provide more than 64,000 gifts to children and seniors in need -- and they expect the need to be even greater this year.
