RICHMOND, Va. — At a time when we can’t all gather around, we can still come together in new ways. Each morning, we highlight a local business or organization that’s adapting in order to continue serving our community.
April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month. Last month, we had Gary Rogliano and Margaret Preston in studio to talk about Power Over Parkinson’s (POP). The foundation provides financial support and social opportunities for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
Since they can’t organize in-person group gatherings right now, POP has launched a YouTube channel. They’re uploading free workout resources for people with Parkinson’s Disease to do at home since physical activity is critical to managing the symptoms of the disease.
POP has also conducted its first group Zoom workout on Saturday and is planning to do another this Saturday and given 50 patients free inflatable punching bags to use for the workouts.
