RICHMOND, Va. - More than 450,000 kids in Virginia rely on the free and reduced-price lunch they receive at school. With public schools in Virginia closed for the rest of the school year, it is particularly important that students continue to receive balanced and nutritious meals each day.

No Kid Hungry Virginia is a statewide campaign by Share Our Strength, a nonprofit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world. Former First Lady of Virginia Dorothy McAuliffe serves as the Share Our Strength National Policy Advisor. She joined us by Skype to share the magnitude of this program and the ways students and families benefit.

Families can text the word FOOD (or COMIDA) to 877-877 to find their nearest meal distribution sites. To learn about more resources available across the state, text 211-211. For more information, visit the Virginia Department of Education website or the No Kid Hungry Virginia website.
