RICHMOND, Va. -- A dozen Virginia State Park closed Monday ahead of potential high wind and flooding brought by Tropical Storm Isaias.
The following parks closed Monday at 5 p.m.:
- False Cape, Virginia Beach
- First Landing, Virginia Beach
- Kiptopeke, Cape Charles
- Chippokes Plantation, Surry
- York River, Williamsburg
- Belle Isle, Lancaster
- Westmoreland, Westmoreland
- Pocahontas, Chesterfield
- Lake Anna, Spotsylvania
- Caledon, King George
- Widewater, Stafford
- Leesylvania, Prince William
"Decisions to reopen will be made on a park-by-park basis after damage assessments have been completed and only when it is safe to return to operational status," a Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation spokesperson said. "Overnight guests with reservations affected by the closures will be refunded for any lost portion of their stay. To ensure any guests who wish to can return to their park upon reopening, the issuance of refunds will occur after the event. Affected reservation dates are also eligible for transfer to future stays based on availability."
