RICHMOND, Va. -- A heat advisory is in effect for the entire CBS 6 viewing area into Sunday evening, and again for Monday.

High temperatures Sunday afternoon will reach near 100° across the region. The combination of heat and humidity will make it feel over 105° in some locations.

Monday will be even hotter with high temperatures near or slightly above 100°, and a heat index surpassing 105°. Some areas may see a heat index in excess of 110°.

The heat advisory is in effect since this is a dangerous combination of heat and humidity. Make sure to stay in air-conditioned places as much as possible.
Official temperatures and heat index values are taken in the shade, so it will be even hotter in the direct sunshine.

The heat will ease slightly for Tuesday through Thursday, but highs will still be in the low to mid 90s, and the heat index will be near or above 100°.

A cold front may bring a drop in the heat and humidity for Friday, but even so, highs will still be near 90°.

Next weekend, highs in the low to mid 90s are expected.

Stay With CBS 6, The Weather Authority.
