How you can help Richmond restaurants

RICHMOND, Va. -- Restaurants and local business in a flourishing economy operate with razor-thin margins. COVID-19 will break these businesses without relief and reinforcement from you.

The lists of closings in Seattle and New York City is growing daily.

In Richmond, Longoven announced it would temporarily close .

As we navigate these tough times, it’s apparent we will need to find creative and preventive measures to continue to support our local dining establishments and local businesses.

One way to help NOW, if you are able, is to buy a gift card for future use. Most restaurants offer online/phone gift cards allowing the businesses to use the monies now and you, the consumer, to eat out in the future.

This is a list of some local places offering online gifts cards (this is definitely NOT a comprehensive list). If you want to support YOUR neighborhood restaurant, give them a call and see what they are offering in terms of gift cards.

As always, we welcome additional comments and other suggestions on Twitter, Instagram, and email.

Dear RVA- We value the health, safety, and welfare of our Guests and our ZZCrew above all else. We will continue to keep cooking all of your favorite smoked meats and sides in the coming weeks but want to reassure everyone that we take the threat of Covid-19, the Coronavirus, very seriously. In order to aid in curbing the spread of the virus we are implementing the following precautionary measures to create a safe dining environment for our guests: 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 We are practicing new sanitizing protocols every hour on the hour which includes cleaning all surfaces and objects that are frequently touched by guests. ••• Due to the large number of guests that frequent ZZQ, we are asking that everyone in the queue stand a minimum of 3 feet apart from one another to combat spread of the virus. To aid in this request we will be placing floor markers every three feet on the exterior and interior queue. ••• Effective this Saturday, March 14, we will begin operating on reduced hours for a minimum of three weeks, or until the threat of the virus has subsided. We will no longer offer extended hours on Friday and Saturday. We will be offering lunch service only Wednesday through Sunday 👉🏻11AM until sold out. Please also note that we will be reducing the size of our cooks which may result in selling out early. ••• We encourage pre-order pickups if you require 10 lbs of meat or more. Pickups take place before the restaurant opens at 10:30AM. ••• We also encourage purchasing gift cards that may be redeemed once the threat is behind us. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you for your support and understanding. ••• ⭐Peace, Love, and ZZQ⭐ ••• Chris & Alex [Texas + Orange]
