Hanover parks remain open: 'Use with caution'

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- Hanover County Parks and Recreation announced Monday is has cancelled all permitted use of athletic fields, picnic shelters, and historic sites through Sunday, March 29.

"At this time, Hanover County parks remain open, including our playgrounds, skate park, dog parks and trails," Hanover County Parks and Recreation director Marcy Durrer said. "Be advised that the amenities in these areas are not sanitized, so use with caution and follow the CDC health and safety guidelines. We reiterate the importance of social distancing and avoidance of large gatherings and group activities."

As of Monday, March 16, one person in Hanover has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
