RICHMOND, Va. -- William 'Jody' Blackwell has stepped down from his position as interim Richmond Police Chief.
Crime Insider sources say that Blackwell stepped down on Friday and will return to his position as a major in the police department.
Blackwell was named interim chief early last week after Mayor Levar Stoney asked former police chief William Smith to resign following several weeks of protests. He served in the position for 10 days before stepping down.
Richmond Police confirm that Blackwell is no longer the Interim Chief.
"We do not have additional details to share at this time," RPD said in a statement to CBS 6.
