CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police will begin a "traffic enforcement operation" on Hull Street Road along with several connecting roads in Chesterfield County Sunday, Aug. 16 through Saturday, Aug. 22.
Officers will target "speeding, aggressive driving, seat belt enforcement and drunken driving," officials with the police department said in a news release Friday.
"It’s dangerous. You really, really, have to be alert driving Hull Street," one woman said.
Another driver referred to the highway as a "nightmare at times."
Officers will also be watching connecting roads, like Courthouse Road, Turner Road, Old Hundred Road S., Winterpock Road and others.
Drivers who travel the road frequently said it is a mixed bag of experiences.
"Hull Street is pretty busy. [The] speed limit is pretty good, I think," one woman said. "You can go about 50 -- between 45 and 55 -- so I don’t see a lot of speeders here because it’s so busy."
But another driver described navigating Route 360 as "chaos."
"No turn signals, people cutting you off, speeding. Trying to hurry up and get down the road as fast as they can," she said. "If they can get anybody to slow it down and pay attention that’d be great."
We are committed to saving innocent lives on our roadways from sudden, random, violent death. Traffic fatalities are 100% preventable. Slow down. Wear your seatbelt. Don’t drive impaired. Drive defensively. - Let’s SAVE LIVES TOGETHER!! https://t.co/UENStcylXd

Fourteen people have been killed in traffic crashes in Chesterfield County to date in 2020, according to police.
Officials blamed speed, alcohol, and seat belt use as the leading causes of death in those crashes.
On Hull Street Road alone, there have been four accidents that left five people dead. Two wrecks in January and then one each in June and July.
The enforcement follows a similar effort Chesterfield Police completed with other agencies on Chippenham Parkway at the start of August. That campaign netted 205 traffic-related summonses and seven DUI arrests.
