RICHMOMD, Va. -- A local artist is paying tribute to the late NBA super-star Kobe Bryant with a paper ball masterpiece.

His memorial was created at the Radolph Community Center on Grayland Avenue in Richmond.

Jake Van Yahres installed the piece Monday night on the fencing around the outdoor court where he plays ball.

He said Kobe was his favorite player and that he was determined to find a way to honor the basketball legend.

"The idea is that now the paper balls are there, hopefully you think of Kobe when you shoot it and then hopefully you say "Kobe" and then his name will live on," he said.

Jake said he is shocked by how many people are thanking him for his tribute.

So far, it's racked up nearly 1600 likes on Instagram.
