PETERSBURG, Va. -- Authorities are asking for the public's help to locate a woman wanted for stabbing her husband early Sunday morning in Petersburg.

Officers were called to the 600 block of Wesley Street for a report of a person stabbed just after 1:05 a.m., according to officials with Petersburg Police.

"Officers arrived on location and discovered a male victim with a stab wound to the chest," police said. "The victim's injury was serious in nature and he was transported to a local area hospital."

Police said victim's wife, 53-year-old Frances Woodson, is wanted for the crime.

Woodson is described as a black female, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.

"Police need your help in locating Woodson, who has an active warrant on file for Aggravated Assault," officers said.

Officials urged anyone who has seen Woodson or knows where she is to call the Petersburg/Dinwiddie Crime Solvers at 804-861-1212 or by downloading the P3tips app or by going to P3tips.com.

Crime Solvers pays a reward for information that leads to an arrest and successful conviction, police said.
