RICHMOND, Va. -- In additional to Memorial Day, May 25 is also recognized as National Wine Day.
And according to geotagged Twitter data recorded over the past month, Virginia is the filled with more wine lovers than almost any other state.
The data was compiled by The Daring Kitchenby tracking geotagged tweets and hashtags about drinking and enjoying wine. For example, #winelover, #lovewine, #winedrinker, #nationalwinedady, and phrases such as "I love wine," "love drinking wine" etc were tracked.
In total, more than 450,000 tweets were included in the data to compile the following list of rankings:
1. Tennessee 2. Virginia 3. Oregon 4. Rhode Island 5. Massachusetts 6. Washington 7. California 8. Georgia 9. New York 10. Illinois
And while Tennessee took the top spot, Virginian snagged second place for the state with the most tweets about wine.
