Semi truck driver killed in I-85 crash hit tree head-on

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. -- State police have released the name of the tractor-trailer driver killed in an early morning wreck along Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County.

Troopers were called to the single-vehicle along I-85 at mile marker 48 Saturday at 12:05 a.m.

"A tractor-trailer was traveling north on I-85 when it ran off the right side of the road, struck the guardrail and then struck head-on a tree," a Virginia State Police spokesperson said.

The driver, 59-year-old Terry L. Adams of Trinity, N.C., died at the scene.

Officials said Adams was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation, officials said.
