Teen arrested in South Carolina in connection to Chesterfield murder

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A teenager was arrested in South Carolina Monday in connection to a murder in Chesterfield County last week.

On November 12, police were called to the area of 9500 Cattail Road for a report of a shooting at about 7:40 p.m.

Minutes later, police say they received a second call about a man that had been shot.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Eriq S. Coleman, of Richmond, was pronounced dead on scene.

On Monday, police obtained a detention order for a 17-year-old male and have charged him with second-degree murder in connection to the fatal shooting.

Police located the teen, whose name has not been released due to his age, in South Carolina. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held pending his extradition to Virginia.

Police continue their investigation into this incident.
