RICHMOND, Va. -- Police have identified a Richmond man killed Wednesday morning on Harwood Street as Sylvester Washington.
Washington was described by police as a man in his 40s.
"At approximately 2:38 a.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Harwood Street for the report of a shooting," a Richmond Police spokesperson wrote in an email. "When officers arrived they located Washington, down and unresponsive on a sidewalk, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene."
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
