KING GEORGE COUNTY, Va. -- A driver involved in a crash with a Virginia State Trooper was charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana, according to State Police.

Four people were hurt after authorities said the driver rear-ended the trooper's cruiser during a traffic stop in King George County Sunday morning.

The crash happened after the trooper pulled over with a BMW on Route 3 at Dahlgren Road and was stopped in the right side of the turn lane, according to Virginia State Police spokesperson Sgt. Keeli Hill.

Eldred H. Daiger III, 33, of Montross, was driving a Ford sedan that rear-ended the trooper’s marked Ford Taurus cruiser.

"The impact pushed the Taurus into the rear of the BMW sedan," Hill said.

The trooper, who was inside the cruiser, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Daiger as well as two people in the BMW were also transported with minor injuries.

Daiger was later charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana, according to State Police.

Officials said the crash remains under investigation.
