1 killed, 1 injured in shooting near near Northside store

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating a double shooting on Richmond's Nortside that left one man dead and another hospitalized Sunday.

Capt. John W. Hall Jr. with Richmond Police said officers were called to the 1300 block of St. Paul Street in the Gilpin Court neighborhood for a shooting report just after 12:30 p.m.

"Responding officers located two adult males in their mid-20s near the convenience store, with apparent gunshot injury," Hall said.

Police said one victim died at the scene and the other was taken to an area hospital for treatment. There was no word on the extrent of his injuries at last check.

"RPD is currently conducting a Death Investigation," police said. "Major Crimes Detectives are attempting to gather additional information that may assist with this investigation."

No suspect information nor additional details were available at last check.
