RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found along the 3900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue, near North Avenue, in Richmond.
Richmond Police were called to the area at about 5:30 a.m. to investigate a shooting.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was shot multiple times, according to Richmond Police on scene.
Officers were still working to determine when the shooting occurred.
"Even the slightest bit of information could lead to an answer," Richmond Police spokeswoman Tracy Walker said. "So if you saw anything, heard anything, consider reporting suspicious activity. That would sure help."
Issac Wright, who lives nearby, said he was worried he may know the woman who was killed.
"I hope it’s not," he said. "Just knowing there’s another statistic, another brother or sister, no matter what race you are, it’s sad. I’m going to continue to pray for everybody and pray for their family.”
Richmond Police have reported 73 homicides in the city through November 28, 2021.
"We’ve got to make this safest city we can because we’re raising kids here," noted Walker.
