RICHMOND, Va. -- Advocates throughout Central Virginia have been getting involved in the Black Lives Matter movement through art, music, and even t-shirt designs.

One RVA Baker is using her tasty treats to take a stand.

Arley Arrington is the owner of the locally-based bakery Arley Cakes, which has gained a loyal following on social media. Right now, the account has more than 7,600 followers on Instagram.

Arrington is known for her advocacy cakes which address issues surrounding social justice.

They're decorated in icing with phrases like "Justice for Breonna Taylor," "Black Lives Matter," and "Jacob Blake."

Arrington donates a portion of the sales to organizations fighting for equality and even encourages her customers to donate with her.

She says getting involved in activism isn't always easy, and she wants to show others it doesn't have to be that way.

"I think you can start somewhere. You can start by ordering a cake," said Arrington. "It can be intimidating sometimes to engage with these issues, but I hope that this can show people that it can be something as easy-going as a cookie."

Arrington makes all her cakes and other treats to order through her website, arleycakes.com
