Police ID people killed in Thanksgiving crash

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police identified two people killed in a Thanksgiving night crash in Richmond as Karen Murphy and Kevin Hancock. Both crash victims were in their 50s, according to police.

"At approximately 7:54 p.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2020, the operator of a pick-up truck, traveling westbound on Brookland Park Boulevard, disregarded a red light and entered the intersection of Chamberlayne Avenue, striking two vehicles, including an SUV, that were traveling southbound on Chamberlayne Avenue," a Richmond Police spokesperson wrote in an email. "All three vehicles then collided with three vehicles that were stopped in the eastbound lanes of Brookland Park Boulevard."

Murphy and Hancock were both in the SUV.

The pick-up truck driver, whose name has not yet been released, was injured in the crash.

Charges against him are pending.
