More than 80 COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths reported in Chesterfield community

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Four people have died and over 80 have tested positive for COVID-19 at Tyler's Retreat at Ironbridge, according to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

The retirement community located at 12001 Ironbridge Road in Chesterfield County.

The VDH was notified about the first positive test on September 29, according to a department spokesperson.

"VDH has provided infection control recommendations, conducted a site visit, and followed up with the facility regularly since learning about it," VDH spokesperson Brookie Crawford wrote in an email about the situation. "The facility is also continuing to do additional testing."

The VDH reported 55 residents and 26 staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

Specific details about the four reported COIVD-19 related deaths were not released.
