COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. -- Miss America stopped by Tussing Elementary School in Colonial Heights Wednesday to kick off STEAM Day 2020.
VCU pharmacy student Camille Schrier read to kindergarten through second grade students, then conducted a science experiment for students in third through fifth grade.
School officials say Schrier’s commitment to science sends an important message to young learners and supports the mission of STEAM events.
Schrier, who gave a chemistry demonstration on hydrogen peroxide during the talent competition, was crowned Miss America in December 2019.
