Man, woman shot at Henrico apartments, Crime Insider says

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police are investigating a shooting at an eastern Henrico County apartment complex Friday afternoon that left a man and a woman wounded, according to Crime Insider sources.

Officers were called to the Audubon Village apartments in the 5000 block of MeadowLark Court for a report of a shooting just before 1:50 p.m.

"Police are down in the cul-de-sac here of Meadowlark Court," Crime Insider Jon Burkett said. "They have investigators... forensics down there. Their investigation is focused on that breezeway... [which] is where they believe the shooting took place."

The man who was shot has life-threatening injuries, according to Crime Insider sources.

The woman who was shot had non-life-threatening injuries, according to those sources.

The victims were transported to an area hospital, police said.

"There were a lot of kids out in this area playing at the time that the gunshots rang out," Burkett said. "There were a lot of people outside... [Police] believe someone out here may key information that will help them solve this case."

Police said they would "be on scene into the afternoon hours" as they process the site at the breezeway.
