Man killed, woman injured in Hanover County crash

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- A man was killed and a woman was injured in a crash in Hanover County on Tuesday.

Around 6:23 p.m., a Virginia State Police Trooper responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 295 close to a mile south of Route 360 in Hanover County.

A 1997 Ford Ranger was headed north when a rear tire ruptured.

The driver, Delores L. Kennedy, 56, of Havre de Grace, MD, was attempting to move the vehicle to the left shoulder when she ran off the road. The vehicle went down into a ditch, hit an embankment and rolled over. Kennedy was transported for treatment of serious injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.

The passenger, Chad W. Weber, 33, of Havre de Grace, MD, was ejected from the Ford and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
