Man critically injured in Chesterfield shooting

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Police are investigating a shooting in the West Chesterfield Heights neighborhood that left a man critically injured Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to the 20200 block of Rowanty Court just before 1:50 p.m. for a report of a person shot in a vehicle, according to Lt. David Sumner with Chesterfield Police.

"Once on scene, officers located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds," Sumner said. "The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries."

No suspect information nor additional details were available at last check.

Officials said their investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
