Woman's body pulled from the water in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. -- Emergency crews responded to Dock Street in Richmond, on Tuesday to retrieve a body from the water, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.

Richmond Police later confirmed details about the situation.

"At approximately 11:50 a.m., officers were called to Great Shiplock Park on Dock Street for the report of a possible body in the river," Richmond Police spokesperson James Mercante wrote in an email. "Officers arrived and, with the assistance of the Richmond Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team, recovered an adult female, 70-80 years in age. She was pronounced dead at the scene. While no foul play is currently suspected, detectives are attempting to identify her and are investigating."
