Shooting that killed teen is 3rd this month at Henrico apartments, police say

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A teenage boy was killed in an early morning shooting in Henrico County, according to police.

Police responded to the 4900 block of Wood Thrush Circle, in the Audubon Village apartment complex, around 12:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

There they found the young victim who was rushed to the hospital.

"Detectives [later] received word the juvenile victim involved in this case succumbed to his injuries," a Henrico Police spokesperson wrote in an email. "The Henrico County Police Division extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends. Due to state law and Division policy, Henrico Police does not release the name/age of juvenile victims."

Another teenager was taken into custody during the investigation.

"The juvenile male faces a petition of underage possession of a firearm. More charges may be forthcoming," a Henrico Police spokesperson wrote.
