HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- Hanover school leaders are making changes to the first day of classes by limiting in-person attendance.
Now, only new kindergartners, preschool students, first, sixth, and ninth graders will start school in person on September 8.
"These students represent our newest learners in our schools, who will face the most significant transition back into our buildings. This will allow school staff to create orientation activities that they would have traditionally completed over the summer had it not been for the coronavirus pandemic," a release said.
The rest of the in-person students will start on September 9.
The first day of online classes will still begin on the eighth.
